from the poetry book ‘Images of Life’
I was inspired to write this poem by my appreciation of the power within our soul as we recognize the forces that surround us which the words inspired me to reflect on the power we have within us.
Reflections
under pitfalls of my misery,
move careful child, with eyes that guide
to glimmers of incandescent light,
sparkling through the midst of dark
appearing brightly within sight
distant light brings rays of hope
oh, but a shadow of a life once was,
endeavoring towards a morning shower,
a calm sleeps comes over me,
unbounded by the darkest hour
gentle was the night that calmed
for nothing sleeps through winter’s storm
as sure as did my faith adorn,
a shelter from torrential rain
that comforts those that ‘ever mourn
i shadow-box the thoughts within
pushed well beneath undaunted force,
that guides me down an endless path
forever bonds, by only faith
that keeps well hidden from the wrath
unstated, thoughts shall never be
as voice chant within my soul
oh, thank thee God for thy warm embrace
as nature changes like the tide,
and surrounds my heart with warmth and grace
