Readers Reviews
I loved Past The Line. From the very beginning, the author does a good job of interweaving characters into the story that makes you question their true intentions. Until the very end, it had me guessing what was the truth, and how the main character should proceed (with caution). The quick chapters are engaging and keep the pace of the book to make it an absolute page-turner. Excited to read the next installment in the series!
The myriad of characters and layers of mystery are well written, perfect for the folks who want a huge book to last the whole weekend!
The author does a nice job of capturing the inner workings of a metro police department. He creates a well-rounded cast of characters. He has created an interesting main character that will carry the series forward.
The book is satisfactory in character appeal and development. Most main characters are developed and have appealing or interesting aspects but could use more complex motivations. Secondary characters may have a purpose but have few unique characteristics.
The author brings out the characters using dialogue very well. He also doesn’t overload the chapters with backstory, instead weaving it into the narrative it hits and pieces until a full picture emerges. A closer POV could have helped, especially with bring out the main character’s thoughts and feelings. Significant events often happen , but no reaction is given from the characters.
The book is exemplary in its choice of topic or theme of the story. It is unique but still has strong appeal for most readers in its intended genre. The book is well plotted. There is cohesive theme or delivery of information. This would appeal to fans of detective fiction. The author understands the subject and meets the expectations of the genre well.
The book is exemplary in its structure, organization, and pacing. The structure of characters/parts aid in a compelling organization of the story or information. The pacing is even throughout and matches the tone/genre of the book.
The story hits the ground running and never lets up. Like most good police procedures, he throws in a lot of grunt work and subplots, but manages them well while keeping the focus on the main story.
This high quality tale ascends off the pages as vibrant, eloquent, and captivating. The attention to detail really brings the story to life.
“Remember the Sabbath‘s pace is relentless, with action sequences that are explosive. This is a riveting read that challenges the reader to think about the deeper questions of justice, redemption, and the human capacity for change. Remember the Sabbath is a must-read for fans of intense mysteries and anyone who appreciates a well-crafted thriller that keeps them quessing and wanting more.”

Your work was found to be a captivating, confronting, evocative piece offering a unique addition to the genre in its character-driven, emotional basis while remaining a thrilling, tantalizing mystery combining who-dun-it foundations with a contemporary approach. Throughout, there is a compelling honesty well-paced against the dramatic, at times, shudder-inducing twists and turns, combining a deep emotional effect with an excitement that drags the reader to the edge of their seat beyond the final dramatic, restorative moments.
Detective Cutter's further investigation into the death of his loved one unravels an even deeper involvement in the cartel schemes he'd previously dealt with. Readers of the previous novels will surely be intrigued to find the woman in the black balaclava is someone Cutter is familiar with. On the other hand, new readers will be encouraged to dig deeper into the character's previous relations, only engrossing them further into the series.
The authorial voice is transfixing, challenging archetypal stereotypes, and subverting classic morality. Each layer of the old friends' journeys further engrosses the reader. Supported by detailed world-building, a nuanced and complex cast, and an immersive fast pace, You Never Live Until You Die is undoubtedly a well-written and crafted novel worthy of attention. It is the Board of Editors' belief the work could have a place in the highly competitive genre.
